ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
DEPUTY SAFEGUARDING MANAGER
The Deputy Safeguarding Manager is required for 2 days per week (based
in Milltown, Dublin 6). He/she would also be required to cover
holidays of the Safeguarding Manager.
1. CHILD PROTECTION/ CASE MANAGEMENT
* Being available for advice to personnel on child protection issues;
* Referring all allegations and concerns of child abuse which are
reported to the DLP to the authorities (Garda? and Tusla);
* Liaising with civil authorities as required;
* First point of contact for people who wish to speak about concerns
of abuse or abuse they experienced;
* Meeting with people who wish to speak about abuse that they
experienced;
* Working with people who were abused to find ways to respond to the
abuse and to support them;
* Supporting and leading an internal inquiry of allegations;
* Reviewing risk assessments and management process.
* Creation and design of restorative practice approaches.
2. CHILD SAFEGUARDING
_Actions taken to ensure that where work is happening with children,
that personnel and environment is safe_
* Revision of and writing safeguarding policies and protocols
* Maintaining a training needs analysis and plan
* Provision of safeguarding training
* Coordinating the network of local safeguarding representatives
* Collating annual self-audit returns
* Oversight of safeguarding practice across Jesuit Works and
Ministries
3. ADULTS AT RISK OF ABUSE
* Being available to Jesuits and personnel for advice on matters
relating to adults at risk of abuse
* Writing and further developing guidance on safeguarding adults at
risk of abuse
* Being involved in the development of training and support in this
area.
